Your class can make a difference by reading—even if it’s from a distance!

Our Classrooms Care program is needed more than ever to get books to children that need them.

Right here in Canada, there are plenty of children who don’t have any books to read. Together, we can ensure all children across Canada get access to books they can own so they can build a lifelong love of reading.

When students in your class read 100 books, we will donate up to 100,000 books to kids who need them most. Please register and inspire your students to keep reading!

“I know that behind every great reader is a dedicated teacher, librarian, and parent. I truly believe that by inspiring your students to read every day, you are doing good and changing the world.”

In 2019, Scholastic launched the Dog Man "Do Good” campaign. Inspired by the characters and themes in Dav Pilkey’s worldwide bestselling graphic novel series, the initiative encourages readers of all ages to give back, in any way they can, and make a positive impact in their communities.

Highlights of the campaign included Dav Pilkey’s “Do Good” global tour. At each of the tour stops, there was a philanthropic component, whether a book drive or a donation to a worthy cause. Small acts that helped in big ways.

In 2020, unable to tour during the pandemic, Dav created a series of “Learn at Home” videos to provide comfort and support to kids and families who found themselves housebound as well. In these videos, he teaches kids how to unleash their own creativity and how to find solace in books, in making art, and in telling their own stories. Just one more way they can contribute something good to the world.

With this spirit in mind, we are proud to once again partner our Classrooms Care program, with the Do Good campaign as a reminder that reading for pleasure not only enriches the lives of students, but that this small act will also make a difference in the lives of children who don’t have the same access to books.

With the help of classrooms across Canada, our goal is to donate 100,000 books to children who need them most. Join us in this mission by registering below.
