Scholastic Canada is committed to supporting children, parents, retailers and educators whatever the circumstances.
Our children are facing an extended period of school closures. With outside activities limited, reading can take us places – it can engage, challenge, and transport us to new worlds. Favourite stories are a way to preserve continuity when the rest of the world is uncertain. We encourage you to take this opportunity to read with your kids, reading aloud or reading together. We are also continuing to add online resources, activities and other features to help parents who are carrying on their children’s education at home, as well as teachers who are faced with teaching remotely.
We continue to create and ship our books to retail and online stores, and our Classroom Essentials site remains open, delivering books and teaching resources direct to homes.
We are monitoring the health of our employees and encouraging them to work from home wherever possible to minimize the possibility of transmission. We are all carefully following guidelines for common sense prevention, and have instituted increased sanitization processes for all materials entering and leaving our warehouse. We wash our hands regularly and use hand sanitizers with at least 60% alcohol. We are also under the strictest instructions to stay home if we feel even mildly ill.
Thank you for being part of our Scholastic family, and please stay safe and healthy during this challenging period.
Our classroom magazines team has created a free “Learning at Home” hub for teachers and families which presents 21 days of engaging, knowledge-building learning journeys for different grade levels that can be accessed at home by kids on any device, even phones.
