Promotional Material
Do not hesitate to use your Festival du Livre promotional posters to get the word out. Display your posters throughout the school, in surrounding stores, or any other relevant public place to encourage traffic during your event.
Send flyers to parents a few days before your event to remind them of your
school’s upcoming Festival du Livre. An invitation letter is also a
good idea.
Activities
Use the Festival du Livre as an opportunity to organize special activities for students, such as a reading marathon or a drawing contest for younger students.
We offer you a $60 complimentary promotional allowance in books to support your efforts in promoting a successful Book Fair. You can use this to supply door prizes or to thank your volunteers.
In addition, to encourage parents’ participation, organize a Family Event and invite parents to a special raffle. We donate $25 in books to the winning family, to be chosen during your Festival du Livre event. No purchase is required.
Managing your Festival du Livre Event
As the person in charge of the event, you manage your Festival from start to finish. This means that you can do it the way that suits you best; in one or many days, during a few hours or more, or even during the week-end if you wish. Please note that it is a good idea to include at least one evening in your schedule.
Plan for the help of at least 3 volunteers – if volunteers are difficult to recruit in your school, you can ask for the help of older, more serious students. This event can thus become an original way to encourage a sense of responsibility.
Given that the Festival du Livre is a celebration, do not hesitate to create an exciting atmosphere! Decorate your room with balloons, garlands and posters decorated by the children. Go further by adding music – and don’t forget to install a reading corner!
Your Instruction Guide
Your Instruction Guide is an essential tool. We recommend reading it thoroughly before you start organizing your Festival.
Wrapping Up
Your Festival du Livre is over and now you need to wrap up your Fair. You must now complete the last steps. They are as important as the preparation of your event.
Here are 4 easy guidelines to follow to finish your event smoothly and quickly.
1. Fax prepaid orders
For pre-paid orders taken from parents, students or teachers use the form on page 10 of your Instruction Guide. Write down all the titles ordered and fax the form to your consultant at 514-633-9750, or toll-free, at 1-877-340-0707.
For poster orders, use the identification sheet (with pictures). Simply write down the quantity to order facing each picture and fax the sheet to the above-mentioned numbers.
2. Filling out your Commission Worksheet
You will find the Commission Worksheet form on page 12 of your Instruction Guide. Simply follow the instructions as indicated. This is the final report that must be sent with your payment.
You may choose your Festival du Livre profit in either cash or books. Please ensure that every line on your Commission Worksheet is completed.
Any questions? Call us!
Don’t forget that your payment must be remitted within 3 days after the end of your Festival du Livre.
3. Choosing your Commission
If you decided to choose the product commission option:
Start by choosing books directly from your Festival du Livre (in total or in part)
Then, if required, order the books of your choice from your Festival Reorder list.
You can also choose
books from Scholastic catalogues.
If you are unable to choose all the product from the Fair or Reorder List, you may choose to have it on account in the form of a Book Fair Commission Credit. This is valid for a two-year period and may be used in part or in full throughout this period.
Avoid mistakes! Make sure you use the correct form when ordering from a catalogue, and don’t forget the shipping charges for any order.
