Lacey can’t find anything clean to wear to school! The only thing she can find is a weird shirt her grandma gave her that reads: “Kiss me, I’m perfect!” But along the way, Lacey gets lots of kisses — from a dog, a cat, an eagle and even a moose! Maybe this shirt isn’t so weird after all.

About the story

In 1998, Scholastic held a contest where Robert Munsch was the prize. The class that ended up winning was a Grade 2 class from Stewart, British Columbia.

Munsch made up three stories while he was there. No Clean Clothes was one of the stories. It happened because a kid named Lacey came to school wearing a shirt that said "Kiss Me! I'm Perfect."

Since the school could not go out for recess because there were three grizzly bears on the playground, Munsch made up a story about Lacey walking to school and getting kissed by lots of local animals like bears and wolves and moose and caribou (NEAT!) and finally by a boy (YUCK!).

ART ALERT! All the buildings in the book are real buildings from Stewart, British Columbia. Michael Martchenko also hid an elephant in the book.
