About the story

Seeing Red is based on a boy named Arie, who Robert Munsch met in Montreal in 2005. Munsch was there to visit the United Talmud Torah Elementary School to tell stories in their new library. The old library had been destroyed in a firebombing, and it had just been rebuilt. Munsch stayed with Arie's family when he visited. Arie's red hair inspired the story — he was the only red-haired boy in the whole school!
