An opening exists in the Strategic Projects Division for the position of Business Project Manager reporting to the Director of Strategic Projects and Privacy. Please note this is a contract role.
The Business Project Manager will help to advance Scholastic Canada’s short and long-term goals, offering leadership and service across a range of responsibilities as needed to ensure projects run smoothly and deliver results. Working with both business and technology teams, the Business Project Manager will help craft the next generation of Scholastic technologies and solutions to support teachers, children, and parents across the country.
Work Location: This is a hybrid position requiring both remote work as well as in-person presence at our downtown Toronto office as well as Markham office as projects require.
Primary Responsibilities
- Leading the planning and implementation of business projects and initiatives through determining project priorities, adjacencies and requirements
- Developing and communicating project scope, goals, tasks, and resource requirements, working closely with business, technology, and other teams.
- Liaising with US based colleagues and our internal technology services team to gather relevant project-specific learnings, best practices, KPIs, etc.
- Analyzing and communicating potential project risks and create effective mitigation plans and support testing, training, and reporting as required.
- Working with the project teams to establish and support reporting to analyze initiative results in accordance with objectives.
- Monitoring and communicating project and/or initiative progress (including budget and timeline) to supervisor and stakeholders.
- Creating and/or maintaining program roadmaps, project trackers, achievement/milestone submissions, and other project reporting.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years Project Management experience or other related experience (experience with Agile project management techniques is essential)
- Exceptional organizational and presentation skills; must be process driven, detail-oriented, accurate and analytical
- Self-reliant with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience managing through influence
- Highly developed communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to understand and explain technical concepts to a range of audiences
- Ability and willingness to travel amongst Canadian locations.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Smart Sheets, Jira, Confluence, Google Suite (experience with Salesforce CRM is an asset)
- Demonstrated understanding of equity related concepts and the ability to recognize how these concepts might influence/ impact the workplace.
