Scholastic Canada is one of the country's leading publishers and distributors of children's books and educational materials in both official languages. For almost 70 years, Scholastic Canada has introduced young people to the joys of reading and has enlarged their understanding of Canada and the world. Today we continue that mission with award-winning Canadian books and outstanding classroom materials. 

Incorporated in 1957, Scholastic Canada Ltd. was the first of an international family of companies that now includes the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, India and Asia. All evolved from the original Scholastic company founded in 1920 by M.R. (Robbie) Robinson in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Scholastic Canada has also grown dramatically. With head offices in Toronto and Markham, Ontario, Scholastic Canada is supported by a distribution warehouse in Markham and six Book Fair branches nationwide. From coast to coast, Scholastic Canada employs approximately 500 Canadians in both full- and part-time roles. Scholastic Canada is also highly regarded internationally for its Canadian publishing program, which includes many award-winning authors and illustrators dedicated to producing books that delight children and inspire them to become lifelong readers.

Our publishing program has been producing children's books by Canadian creators for Canadian children for more than 50 years. We are proud to publish some of the country's top authors and illustrators in both English and French, including Robert Munsch and Michael Martchenko, Elise Gravel, Barbara Reid, Melanie Watt, Erin Bow, Gordon Korman, and many more. Our books, which can be found in bookstores, retail and online outlets and through our school-based Book Clubs and Book Fairs, reach communities large and small across the country giving young readers across the country access to popular and meaningful stories about topics relevant to Canadian kids.
