Subject: Farewell Party for the BSC!

January 2001

Hi, readers! When Scholastic decided to throw a big party in New York City to say good-bye to the BSC, they went all out. Between the food, the guests, and the entertainment, I didn't want it to end! The event brought together many of the people who have contributed to the making of the series over the past fifteen years for an evening of fond recollections, shared memories, and plenty of fun. Afterwards, the Scholastic photographer gave me dozens of pictures that were taken that night, and I've had a great time looking them over these past few days. I've chosen a few of my favorites that should give BSC fans a good peek at the party!

The food was delicious, but I was so busy I almost forgot to eat!

Jean Feiwel (l), Publisher of Scholastic Books, me, and Barbara Marcus (r), President of Scholastic Children's Books) Jean and Barbara have been big supporters of the BSC from the very beginning.

I was glad to have the opportunity to thank everyone who had worked on the series. (Can you tell that I am very nervous?)

(National Dance Institute) The performance by the kids from the National Dance Institute was so cool! It was a highlight of the evening for everybody.

I had a great time signing copies of Graduation Day for some of the dancers.

There were lots of fun activities. While the magician dazzled the crowd...

The tattoo artist created a "temporary" work of art!

To top it off, the tarot card reader predicted partygoers' fortunes by interpreting the mystical tarot cards. (Hmm...I wonder what my future will bring?)
